The group received updates on the NC Board of Directors’ legislative meeting and heard about the association’s priority bills, as well as information about events and programs available for NC members. The group also received a legislation and membership update from NC Executive Vice President Laura Field. Members of SAUNDERS COUNTY LIVESTOCK & AG ASSOCIATION gather for a meeting on Feb. 19 in Colon. Ron Kulwicki with Zoetis spoke to the group along with NC Board member Heath Clausen, who gave an NC update. Wade A. Greening, FBI supervisory intelligence analyst, national security private sector coordinator, addresses members at the OGALLALA CATTLEMEN meeting Feb. 26 in Ogallala. Greening spoke about ag terrorism, DNA seeding and the negative impacts on animal health, food safety and national security. NC Board member Quentin Dailey gave an NC update during the course of the meeting. NC member KELLY JOHNSON testifies in front of the Transportation and Telecommunications Committee on LB 496 Feb. 24 at the Nebraska Capitol in Lincoln. LB 496 would amend provisions related to the rights and responsibilities of individuals leading or driving livestock on Nebraska highways. Johnson testified on his personal experience with herding livestock down the roads, which brought the bill to life. Anastasia Meyers, University of NebraskaLincoln agricultural profitability Extension educator, shares various options for producers’ rangeland insurance during the KEARNEY-FRANKLIN CATTLEMEN meeting in Minden on Feb. 17. Members in attendance gained valuable insights into livestock risk protection and explored pasture, rangeland and forage insurance options for livestock producers. DAWSON COUNTY CATTLEMEN member Shannon Pearson, right, welcomes Jon Montgomery, left, into the Dawson County Cattlemen Hall of Fame at their annual banquet at Kirk’s Nebraskaland Restaurant in Lexington on Feb. 15 . The evening consisted of recognizing members for their achievements and also featured entertainment.
