The 2024 Nebraska Beef State Scholarship was awarded to Weston Svoboda. This premier award is a $10,000 scholarship that was established in 2014 to support outstanding junior, senior or graduate-level Nebraska resident students enrolled in a Nebraska college or university and pursuing a beef-industry-related degree. Weston is a fifth-generation agriculturalist from Burwell. Being raised in the family business, he quickly developed a passion for the beef industry. A current law student at UNL, Weston ultimately plans to be involved on the family ranch while serving the legal needs of fellow agriculturalists, focusing on estate planning and generational transitions of family farms and ranches. Established in 1968, the Nebraska Cattlemen Foundation’s mission is to advance the future of Nebraska’s beef industry by investing in research and education programs. The foundation’s success and its ability to endow scholarships, sponsor leadership and education programs, and assist with research and infrastructure projects has been possible only because of the support from the Nebraska cattle producers and allied industries. ~NC~
