46 NEBRASKA CATTLEMAN August 2025 PEERS NCF RECOGNIZES RVSC WINNERS AND SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENTS The annual Nebraska Cattlemen Foundation (NCF) Retail Value Steer Challenge (RVSC) winners were honored at the Foundation Awards Lunch on June 12 during the Nebraska Cattlemen (NC) Midyear Meeting in Kearney. The RVSC is the primary fundraiser for NCF, with money raised supporting youth and adult educational programs, scholarships, research and infrastructure projects, history preservation and judging teams at Nebraska colleges. The foundation would like to recognize the support of our longtime partner Darr Feedlot of Cozad for administration and feeding the steers. This year marked the 26th year NCF has held the Retail Value Steer Challenge fundraiser with 150 steers donated. The fundraiser’s success is solely due to the generosity of the many donors who have contributed to the RVSC over the years. The foundation recognized a special group of individuals who have donated to 26 Retail Value Steer Challenges. These donors (and future donors who hit the 26-year donor category) received a relief walnut sculpture plaque designed by Henderson artist Vernon Friesen featuring a bunk line of steers on feed. The group of 26-year donors recognized were: • Harry Knobbe Feedyard • Hi-Gain Feedlot • Lincoln County Cattlemen NCF also recognized donors that, in 2025, had participated for 10 years. The group of 10-year donors recognized were: • Bill Bose • Dr. Phillip and Kristen Kesterson • Farmers Mutual of Nebraska • Ken Herz • Lashley Land and Recreational Brokers • Olson Farms, Inc. • Republican Valley Animal Clinic CONTINUED ON PAGE 48 Twentyfive year donors to the NCF Retail Value Steer Challenge include, left to right, Hi-Gain Feedlot, Lincoln County Cattlemen and Harry Knobbe Feedyard.
