Raising Nebraska Find the NCW – Promotion and Education Committee at the Raising Nebraska exhibit at the 2025 Nebraska State Fair. See what’s in cattle producers’ tool bags that they use on their operations. Learn about beef byproducts which are used to create many things that we use every day and beef’s essential nutrients – zinc, iron and protein – that help keep our bodies healthy! That’s why we say, “Wow that cow!” Stop in and pick up new education materials and beef recipe books for all ages. Teacher packets will be available for schools that are attending the Nebraska ʻs Largest Classroom Aug. 22, 26 and 27. If you know a teacher who would like a packet, please email ncw@ necattlemen.org. Beef For Troops Since 2009, the NC Farmer-Stockman Council has sponsored beef drafts for military members on Veterans Appreciation Day at the Nebraska State Fair – and will do so again this year. Donations are being accepted to help purchase beef drafts, which are given randomly to veterans and active-duty service members who eat at the Nebraska State Fair Beef Pit. Please send your donation to the Nebraska Cattlemen office with a note that your check is for Beef For Troops. Nebraska Cattlemen Beef Pit This year, the NC Beef Pit will hit a major milestone – more than 600,000 sandwiches served since 1984! Each year, fairgoers line up for our famous prime rib sandwich, an all-beef hot dog or this year’s new addition, the burnt end sandwich. Don’t miss your chance to celebrate with the Beef Pit crew and enjoy one of Nebraska’s favorite fair traditions throughout the state fair run, Aug. 22-Sept. 1 in Grand Island. ~NC~ To view the most current online issue of the Nebraska Cattleman magazine, scan the QR code or visit: https://www.nebraskacattlemen.org/ nebraska-cattleman-magazine
