Marke ng and Commerce Commi e The Marketing and Commerce Committee received updates on cattle markets, risk management and key federal policy issues affecting the beef industry. Discussion included proposed changes to CME cattle futures daily price limits, current cattle and beef market conditions, enhancements to Livestock Risk Protection (LRP) products and the latest developments in Washington, D.C., including trade, tariffs, USMCA negotiations and other issues impacting cattle producers. The committee also amended Nebraska Cattlemen policy on daily price limits to encourage continued discussion at the 2026 NCBA Summer Business Meeting. Natural Resources and Environment Commi e The Natural Resources and Environment Committee received updates on disaster and drought assistance programs available to producers affected by recent wildfires and ongoing drought conditions. Members also heard the latest research on livestock methane emissions from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Animal Science Professor Galen Erickson, Ph.D., and received a legislative update from NC Director of State Government Affairs Matthew Melchor highlighting issues impacting natural resources and the environment.
