NC Dec 2023

34  Nebraska Cattleman  December 2023 ducers from Nebraska and surrounding states were well informed. This year’s sessions provided producers with information they could take back to their operations that will make them more profitable, sustainable or encourage them to make improvements toward their stockmanship and animal welfare practices. Sessions were curated so that participating attendees would not only learn from a variety of industry experts but also receive BQA certification at the event’s conclusion. Nebraska BQA Partners With Nebraska Extension – Women in Agriculture For the last three years, Nebraska BQA has partnered with the Nebraska Extension – Women in Agriculture (WIA) program to host the Herd That! Conference. This annual meeting targets Nebraska women involved with the livestock industry. Each year, the event is packed with sessions related to livestock production, grazing management, economics and animal welfare. This year, participants had the opportunity to have a hands-on experience in body condition scoring and safely feeding horses. At the event’s conclusion, nationally renowned stockman Curt Pate conducted a horsemanship clinic. The Nebraska BQA program continues to excel and looks forward to other great events as we head into 2024. I hope I see you down the road at one of our fantastic events. Additionally, your involvement provides you the opportunity to voice what type of Extension events you’d like to see in Nebraska. As always, I want to encourage you to join your fellow producers and help the industry by becoming BQA certified and adopting/implementing BQA practices on your operation today! The BQA program is offered through inperson and online training. To become BQA certified in-person, contact your veterinarian, a Nebraska Beef Extension Educator in your area or find an in-person BQA training happening near you by visiting bqa.unl.edu.  NC  BQA • CONTINUED FROM PAGE 32  Consider This
