36 NEBRASKA CATTLEMAN December 2025 PEERS LEADING THE WAY TO THE FUTURE CAMPAIGN JANA JENSEN | FUNDRAISING COORDINATOR, NEBRASKA CATTLEMEN FOUNDATION The Nebraska Cattlemen Foundation (NCF) is working to substantially grow an endowment aimed at providing support for youth and adult leadership development. The foundation aims to raise $1 million – an ambitious but transformational goal that will allow the NC Foundation to make sizable investments in our future beef leaders. The Nebraska Cattlemen Foundation has already committed $250,000 to this campaign! NCF has had an endowed leadership account for several years, with most of the donations coming from memorials and honorariums. The board felt it was time to grow this leadership endowment to show their commitment to our industry and to secure forever funding for leadership development. NCF currently spends at least $40,000 to $50,000 per year supporting leadership efforts. Having an endowment to cover these costs would then allow dollars to flow to other worthy causes. The largest donation to this account to date – $5,000 for five years – came from Dave and Loretta Hamilton. According to the Hamiltons, “Encouraging and training young beef producers to speak and influence policy makers is paramount to the industry’s long-term success.” The Hamiltons have served on numerous beef industry boards – nationally, state and locally – and are fourth-generation cattle ranchers north of Thedford. The Nebraska beef industry must have strong leaders to serve as the voice for the state’s beef producers. This endowment will support leadership development activities for youth and adults, which will help Nebraska grow and educate our state leaders, other influential people and entities. “With a beef industry that is ever-changing and constantly facing challenges, it is more important than ever that we support the development and training of the next generation of beef industry leaders,” says Nebraska Cattlemen Foundation President Malina Lindstrom. “The future of beef is bright, but it’s only as bright as its future leaders. It is our responsibility to equip these young leaders with the knowledge and tools to effectively take the reins.” We hope to reach our goal through the generosity of Nebraska cattlemen and cattlewomen like YOU! We hope that beef industry advocates will join in this campaign and see the value of educating our current and future beef leaders! The easiest and fastest method of giving is to scan the QR code to make your donation. Donations can be made in many forms. Of course, we all think first about simply writing a check and, yes, that works great. All checks for more than $35 will receive a charitable receipt. But there are numerous ways to give, including gifts of grain or livestock or additional tax-wise gifts that may be a better option for you. All donors will be recognized in the Nebraska Cattlemen Foundation’s Annual Report. If you have any questions, please contact me at (308) 458-9685. ~NC~ NOTE: The mission of the Nebraska Cattlemen Foundation is to advance the future of Nebraska’s beef industry by investing in research and education programs.
