NCFeb2024

72 NEBRASKA CATTLEMAN February 2024 by industry experts. All presentations were followed by Q&A sessions so that producers could ask questions and get the most from the presentations. Opening General Session NC President Steve Hanson welcomed attendees as the meeting began with a beautiful rendition of the Star Spangled Banner sung by Steve and Susan’s granddaughter, Ryleigh Hanson. Hanson recognized and thanked retiring NC Board of Directors members Brenda Masek, Quentin Dailey, Krista Dybdal, Andy Dorn and Al Atkins. NC appreciates their service and dedication. Former NC Executive Vice President Pete McClymont reported on the 2023 international trip to Scotland and gave a preview of the 2024 trip to Iceland. Participation was encouraged for the trip, which will be July 26-Aug. 2. Registrations are currently being accepted. McClymont also recognized longtime NC staff member Lee Weide, who retired in December 2023. Weide has been an instrumental member of the NC team for more than 27 years, and he will be missed. To learn more about Weide’s significant contributions to NC, read article in January issue of Nebraska Cattleman. NCBA President-Elect Mark Eisele gave a federal update focusing on NCBA priorities including Farm Bill discussions and other matters of national interest. Keynote speaker and artist Chuck Schroeder gave an inspirational talk to attendees titled “The Truth of You,” sharing stories of his journey with service and art. His message rang true with guests as he encouraged the crowd to find true purpose in the things that matter most in life. The Young Cattlemen’s Conference (YCC) retiring class of 2022 was announced before the crowd was dismissed to attend the welcome reception in the trade show to wrap up day one of convention. 2023 NC CONVENTION RECAP CONTINUED FROM PAGE 70 Full EPD’s, Performance Data, Ultrasound, Pelvic and Scrotal Measurements.
