82 NEBRASKA CATTLEMAN February 2024 PEOPLE Meet Nebraska Cattlemen’s Newest Board Members JESSICA RUDOLPH | NC DIRECTOR OF MEMBERSHIP-RETENTION Craig Uden, Johnson Lake, Nebraska Cattlemen Vice President Craig Uden joined the NC Board of Directors as vice president. He is a fourth-generation cattleman who is involved in the cow-calf, stocker and feedlot sectors. Uden says he has a conception-to-consumption mindset and has invested time in the genomic and beef processing sectors of the industry, as well as learning the research, product development and marketing of beef. He believes that the more you know about your industry, the better prepared you are to handle the challenges. While growing up, Uden tagged along with his father to local cattlemen meetings and livestock feeder meetings. He now attends Dawson County Cattlemen meetings, and he is proud of the affiliate’s growth. “When I moved to Dawson County many years ago, I got involved with the Nebraska Livestock Feeders, Nebraska Stockgrowers and the Nebraska Feedlot Council organizations,” Uden says. “Ultimately, it was a great decision to merge the three organizations so that all segments could work together to tackle industry issues.” Uden brings an array of leadership experiences to the NC Board. Uden says he was honored to serve as chair of both the NEW NEBRASKA CATTLEMEN (NC) BOARD MEMBERS WERE SELECTED TO SERVEmembership in various roles during the Nebraska Cattlemen Annual Convention. Council chairs and vice chairs are elected by the council members they represent. Vice chairs of Member Services for each region are elected by the affiliate presidents in their regions, and committee chairs and chairs-elect are appointed by the Nebraska Cattlemen president. Meet the new leaders serving on the NC Board of Directors. National Cattlemen’s Beef Association (NCBA) Policy Division and Federation Division, and he served as NCBA president in 2017. One word he uses to describe NC is family, and he looks forward to serving on the board. “I am greatly looking forward to developing relationships with board members and encouraging young people and all the grassroots stakeholders to get involved to advance the Nebraska Cattlemen for generations to come.” Uden wants members to know that NC is their organization, and he encourages members to bring their ideas and talents to the table. Uden and his wife, Terri, have two children – Blair and her husband, Jon Caraway, and Andrew and his wife, Nicolette. The Udens have six grandchildren, and they enjoy following them in their activities. Jaclyn Wilson, Lakeside, Member Services – Region 1 Vice Chair Jaclyn Wilson serves NC members in the panhandle as vice chair of Member Services – Region 1. Wilson served on the NC Cow-Calf Council and Executive Committee a decade ago. Additionally, she worked as a Nebraska Cattlemen intern in college, and she has served on Cattle CONTINUED ON PAGE 84
