88 NEBRASKA CATTLEMAN February 2024 also serves his community by being a firefighter and EMT, and he is past president of the Nebraska Simmental Association and still serves on their board. Felt’s father is one of his mentors in the beef industry and taught him about feeding cattle. He also admires the producers who consign to their sale and have become like family to him. He says Felt Farms is a family-oriented operation, and his parents and hired man help with the business. Felt enjoys going to cattle shows, and he helps youth with their show cattle. He describes NC as being entrepreneurial minded, and he looks forward to serving on the NC Board. I want to learn how to complete the circle of the beef industry.” Jake Pullen, Aurora, Allied Industries Council Chair Jake Pullen is the newly elected Allied Industries Council chair. Pullen works for Bill’s Volume Sales, supplying producers with feeding equipment, service and parts. He enjoys being involved with the beef industry. “There are a lot of people that I have made a close relationship with or became good friends with who are in the beef cattle industry,” Pullen says. When he began his sales role with Bill’s Volume Sales in 2009, NC sparked his interest. Pullen attends various affiliate meetings and banquets, and dedicates time and sponsorship to the affiliates in his territory. He meets producers who are involved with NC by attending affiliate events and, through making connections, he was inspired to get more involved with NC leadership. The beef industry issue that he is most passionate about is property taxes. “Property tax is a huge burden for producers that can affect many financial decisions down the line,” he says. “If we do not keep a close eye on it, the effects can be detrimental.” Pullen has served in various community service roles, including the Central City Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, which included two years as president. He donates time to the Teammates chapter in Central City by mentoring a student. He is also an NC Young Cattlemen’s Connections graduate, class of 2022. 70 Polled Hereford Bulls Yearlings • 18-month-olds • 2-yr-olds 45 Polled Hereford Bred Heifers 40 Limousin & LimFlex Bulls Yearlings • 2-yr-olds Carcass ultrasound.
