MEET NC’S NEWEST BOARD MEMBERS CONTINUED FROM PAGE 90 A fourth-generation farmer and feeder, he manages McLean Feedlots. He is also involved in the family business of McLean Beef, a custom beef and pork processor in York. McLean Beef is a USDA-inspected facility and meat market. He has some favorite aspects of working in the beef industry. “I like watching crops grow on generational land and then feeding that product to cattle, watching cattle finish and then marketing that product to the consumer,” McClean says. “I like watching the satisfaction of a superior product on the table also.” McLean has been involved in additional volunteer roles. He is a past graduate of the NC Young Cattlemen’s Connections program and the NCBA Young Cattlemen’s Conference program; he is also an alumnus of Northwest Missouri State Alpha Gamma Rho. McLean and his wife, Amanda, have four daughters – Bentley, Taytum, Rory and Allie. He enjoys hiking, golfing and coaching basketball. His favorite cut of beef is a ribeye with a side of roasted asparagus. If he were to describe Nebraska Cattlemen in one word, it would be membership. In his role on the board, McClean says he is open to listening to all sides of an argument and being able to reach consensus on issues. “I was interested to get involved with Nebraska Cattlemen and NCBA to have a strong voice at the state level and nationally,” he says. “There are fewer producers, and I want the industry to maintain a strong voice.” McLean wants to listen to and have compassion toward members regarding concerns in the cattle industry.
