NCBA fought hard for the wins in the 2017 TCJA, launching a full court press by lobbying Congress and the Trump administration as well as debuting the Cattlemen for Tax Reform website that featured tax-specific podcasts and producer testimonials. Showcasing the struggles cattle producers had with the U.S. tax code, specifically the Death Tax, garnered tremendous attention from national, Beltway and trade media publications. Expect more of that grassroots advocacy in 2025 because with the increasing price of farmland, even more producers will be subject to the death tax than ever before if the expanded exemption expires. Add in the higher input costs we are experiencing due to inflation and natural disasters that producers across the country have had to endure, any tax hikes that come from expiring TCJA provisions will be a major detriment to family-owned cattle operations. While cattle producers saw promising victories last year with CTA’s temporary suspension and final passage of the disaster relief tax package, NCBA never rests on past successes. One of NCBA’s top goals in 2025 is to protect the tax provisions that help preserve family farms and ranches. We are already working with Congress and the incoming Trump administration to secure more tax relief for U.S. cattle producers in 2025. By working to keep our tax code fair, NCBA is effectively safeguarding our industry for generations to come. ~NC~ 2024 FINANCIAL POLICY VICTORIES AND 2025 DEATH TAX PREVIEW CONTINUED FROM PAGE 58
