Farmer-Stockman Council The Farmer-Stockman Council agreed to continue their popular beef draft giveaway at the Beef Pit during the Nebraska State Fair and expressed appreciation to all the donors who helped purchase beef drafts. Elected as chair was Dwight Dam. Farmer-Stockman Council member Marc Hanson will serve on the Nominations Committee. Feedlot Council The first order of business for the NC Feedlot Council was the election of council leadership for the coming year. Ryan Danehey was re-elected to serve a second one-year term as Feedlot Council chair, and Daron Heyser was re-elected to a second one-year term as Feedlot Council vice chair. Galen Erickson, Ph.D., University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL) Nebraska cattle industry professor of animal science, presented updates on a few ongoing UNL projects, including the full opening and placement of cattle into the new Klosterman Feedlot Innovation Center near Mead. Erickson also updated the council on efforts to recruit more students into the Timmerman Feedlot Internship program as well as some recent nutritional research published in the UNL Beef Report involving the economics of feeding different oils as part of feedlot rations. Seedstock Council An update was shared on the Nebraska State Fair Beef Exhibitor Luncheon. This continues to grow and is a great way to thank NC members who show in the beef show. Elected as chair was James Felt, and Kristian Rennert was elected vice chair. Seedstock Council member Reiss Bruning will serve on the Nominations Committee. Allied Industries Council An update was given on NC’s 2025 Partnership Package options. Allied Industries Council (AIC) members were encouraged to review the current package. It was discussed to have an AIC meeting at the Lincoln office and invite affiliate leadership to increase the engagement between affiliates and allied members. Information was gathered from trade show participants on the current trade show. Trade show participants discussed other options to do advertising prior to convention. Breakout Sessions Breakout Session I – Taxes and Business Tony Desantis, a data analytics shareholder for Lutz, gave a presentation on the benefits of data analytics in the cattle industry.
