Education and Research Commi ee Larry Kuehn, Ph.D., U.S. Meat Animal Research Center, shared information on recent beef accomplishments, current research programs and national programs. Nebraska Cattlemen Foundation President Loren Berger presented the 2025 Annual Report. Brian L. Maher, Ph.D., commissioner of the Nebraska Department of Education (DOE), gave an update on the DOE, its board and structure. Maher discussed LAW, the current mission of the department, which stands for Literacy (increasing the proficiency of third graders), Attendance (getting students to school) and Workforce development. He also shared that he is working to help his department understand the Nebraska agricultural economy and where food comes from.
