Taxation Committee The Taxation Committee convened with a presentation from NCBA Government Affairs Associate Director Kelsea Kemp on federal tax issues focusing on this past summer’s One Big Beautiful Bill, the provisions within the legislation and how those changes may impact members across the state. Nebraska Sen. Jana Hughes (D-24) then gave an update on the work of the School Financing Review Commission and previewed her potential property tax relief bill expected in the 2026 Legislative session, noting its significance for rural communities. Last, Nebraska State Tax Commissioner Jim Kamm and Nebraska State Property Tax Administrator Sarah Scott offered a detailed update on the state’s current revenue receipts, next year’s scheduled decrease in income tax rates and the projected state budget deficit. Their remarks provided valuable context for members as they consider the broader fiscal landscape and its implications for Nebraska’s cattle industry. NCW-Consumer Education and Promotion Committee Committee reports included the Nebraska Beef Ambassador contest, American National CattleWomen and promotion projects. The NCW-Consumer Promotion and Education Committee continues to work with the Nebraska Beef Council (NBC) and the NC Foundation on promotion and educational materials. NBC’s Mitch Rippe gave a 2025 recap. Anna Kobza gave an advocacy presentation on “If We Can’t Agree on Our Story – How Can They?” NCF Fundraising Coordinator Jana Jensen gave a report on the Leading the Way to the Future Campaign. Annual Business Meeting All NC councils and committees presented reports on their respective business meetings and proposed policy resolutions for a membership vote. NC approved 117 resolutions and policy statements that were new, renewed or modified in the required review of the odd-year policies. Convention ended with the election of the 2026 NC officers.
