86 NEBRASKA CATTLEMAN January 2026 IANR CONTINUED FROM PAGE 84 industry partners who are advancing data-driven agriculture. Through this series, we are building a Nebraska Digital Agriculture Hub, which unites research, teaching and Extension across crop, livestock and natural resource systems. The goal is simple but ambitious: to accelerate the adoption and co-creation of technologies that make Nebraska’s farms and ranches more productive, efficient and sustainable. While much of the conversation around digital agriculture has focused on cropping systems, these tools hold enormous promise for livestock and production animal systems as well – from feed efficiency and health monitoring to grazing management and environmental stewardship. IANR is working to ensure Nebraska remains a national leader in this space, with producers squarely at the center of innovation. This spirit of innovation extends beyond research and technology. The Engler Agribusiness Entrepreneurship Program, based in the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources, continues to empower students to build and lead their own businesses – often in rural communities. Thanks to programs like Engler, UNL now ranks 35th worldwide for entrepreneurship programs. We are also proud of the continued success of our Nebraska Elite 11 Veterinary Medicine Program, now entering its third year of applications. This scholarship program supports Nebraska students committed to becoming production animal veterinarians and serving in rural Nebraska. The program has received national attention, and we are incredibly proud of the talented students participating in the first two cohorts. Applications for the next round are open now through early February, and we look forward to welcoming another outstanding group. I’m very proud of our institute’s strong momentum, but I want to be very clear that none of this work happens in isolation. It’s the collective effort of producers, educators, researchers, industry partners and community leaders that moves Nebraska agriculture forward.
