38 NEBRASKA CATTLEMAN June/July 2026 What stood out most was the recognition that Nebraska is uniquely positioned to lead. With world-class production agriculture, strong manufacturing, affordable energy and the university, state colleges and community colleges working together, our state represents a model for how innovation can grow from the ground up. As Council on Competitiveness President Deborah WinceSmith noted, “If you want to see where the future of the bioeconomy is being built, there is no place like Nebraska.” May also gave us an opportunity to celebrate an industry that remains foundational to our state. Although the calendar has turned, we were proud to recognize National Beef Month and to once again serve as the site of the official proclamation signing. It’s a meaningful acknowledgment of the role Nebraska plays in producing high-quality beef and feeding a growing world, and more important, the people behind that work. As we look ahead, the road forward will include both recovery and opportunity. The challenges posed by this spring’s fire remind us of the risks inherent in agriculture, while conversations about the bioeconomy point to new possibilities on the horizon. Through it all, Nebraska’s cattle producers continue to demonstrate resilience, innovation and a commitment to stewardship that defines this industry. Thank you for all you do to keep Nebraska’s cattle industry strong. ~NC~ IANR CONTINUED FROM PAGE 36 To view the most current online issue of the Nebraska Cattleman magazine, visit: https://www.nebraskacattlemen.org/ nebraska-cattleman-magazine Platinum Partners Gold Partners Silver Partners The companies below have committed substantial and continual support to the Nebraska Cattlemen (NC) organization and membership.
