38 NEBRASKA CATTLEMAN November 2024 out and discussed at affiliate meetings. Attending the NC Midyear Meeting and Annual Convention is another way that members can become more engaged in Nebraska Cattlemen. Attending these meetings is a great way to hear speakers, become involved in policy and network with other beef producers in Nebraska. The more you put into your membership, the more you get out of your membership. You can just write the check each year and wait for the next renewal form, or you can get involved and get engaged. I would challenge you to take the time to attend affiliate meetings. Educational meetings can help you develop strategies to help your operation. There are opportunities for you to volunteer with community events, donate to Beef in Schools and advocate for beef in your local area. The NC Annual Convention in December should also be added to your calendar. The time spent in Kearney will help you understand your grassroots association. Member-developed policy can make a difference on your operation. It is a time when beef producers can come together and work to make a difference in the beef industry and network with like-minded individuals. I recently participated in the NC Young Cattlemen’s Connections (YCC) to network with people from other industry sectors and other parts of the state. I was also able to see the industry from the cow-calf, feedlot, packing and consumer perspectives. For the most part, no one would be able to see every part of the industry individually, but through YCC, I got to witness nearly every part of the industry that makes the system work. I have gotten more involved in Nebraska Cattlemen because of my experience with the YCC program. I encourage you to get involved as a Nebraska Cattlemen member. Find a way to get engaged. Don’t just write the membership check. Make sure you are taking advantage of all that Nebraska Cattlemen offers. ~NC~ INSIGHTS CONTINUED FROM PAGE 8 CONSIDER THIS
