62 NEBRASKA CATTLEMAN November 2024 BOOTS ON THE GROUND PEOPLE Sigrid Johannes (standing), National Cattlemen’s Beef Association (NCBA) senior director of government affairs, gives a federal issues update at the LINCOLN COUNTY CATTLEMEN annual membership meeting on Sept. 18. Johannes’ update included important information about animal disease traceability and other ways NCBA is advocating to protect cattle producers in our nation’s capital. The OGALLALA AFFILIATE meets on Sept. 5 for a presentation by Shawn Ryan (left) who discusses FerAppease by FERA Diagnostics and Biologicals. The presentation followed a two-man golf scramble at the Pheasant Run Golf Club in Grant. NC Director of Membership Jessie Rudolph provided information about NC’s upcoming membership events. NCBA President Mark Eisele speaks at a meeting of NC REGION 2 members on Sept. 15. Other speakers featured at the meeting included NC Executive Vice President Laura Field; Nebraska Beef Council District 8 Director Mark Goes; Nebraska Brand Committee, Brenda Masek; and NC Marketing and Commerce Chair Joe Eisenmenger. NC Vice Chair Region 2 Kat Kennedy assisted attendees with renewing their memberships or becoming NC members. The meeting was sponsored in part by Nebraska Cattlemen Partners. REGION 7 AFFILIATE leadership attend a roundtable on Sept. 16 hosted by NC Vice Chair of Member Services-Region 7 Heath Clausen. Leaders learned about Beef in Schools, new strategies to promote beef at affiliate events and shared ideas for affiliate activities. The leaders plan to meet in the future to continue sharing ideas about their affiliates. Dr. Blane Lowe gives a presentation about vitamin A in beef cattle to producers attending the SOUTHWEST AFFILIATE meeting on Sept. 19. Members also learned about membership opportunities with NC and enjoyed a social and steak sandwich meal. THAYER COUNTY LIVESTOCK FEEDERS compete in their annual golf tournament on Sept. 7. The affiliate organized the four-person scramble that included lunch, a prime rib sandwich dinner and various prizes for the winners. The earnings from the event are designated to local schools’ beef booster programs. The YOUNG NEBRASKA CATTLEMEN-LINCOLN learn about NC’s policy process and the recent special session in the Nebraska Unicameral from NC Director of State Government Affairs Matthew Melchor on Sept. 18.
