This year, we served nearly 12,000 beef sandwiches to fairgoers. The Beef Pit gives us a unique opportunity to promote our product to Nebraskans, travelers from across the country and visitors from around the world. During the 11 days of the fair, we welcomed guests from five different countries. A couple from California stopped by after hearing our radio ad while driving their daughter across the country to her freshman year of college. The food sounded good they said, so they pulled in. We were also honored to host numerous state senators, U.S. Senators Deb Fischer and Pete Ricketts, Congressman Adrian Smith, Gov. Jim Pillen and Consul General of Israel Elad Strohmayer. None of it happens without our volunteers. For 11 days, they were on their feet grilling, slicing, serving and greeting every person who walked up to the counter. They came from local cattlemen’s affiliates, college organizations and industry partners across the state, and they gave up their time because they believe in telling the beef story one sandwich at a time. To everyone who visited the Beef Pit and supported our mission, thank you. We look forward to an even more successful 2027! Thank you to the following people for serving on the Beef Pit Committee: Joel and Connie Bruns, Rod and Amy Christen, Blaine Clowser, Dan and Clarissa Feldman, Daryl and Maggie Griepenstroh, Mark and Suzanne Jagels, John and Kate Lange, Allan Louthan, Dave and Brenda Masek, Ken and Kelli Real, Kenny and Misty Stauffer, Trevor and Amy Topp, and Phil and Britni Wieck. Thank you to the following groups and individuals who volunteered to work the Beef Pit during the 2026 State Fair. SPECIAL TO THIS ISSUE CONTINUED ON PAGE 38
