Many great resources are available through the University of Nebraska, local health departments and others. With many new and developing technologies and solutions for how to best prepare for and handle both hot and cold weather, Nebraska Cattlemen is committed to working with experts and members to make sure idea sharing is maximized. We are looking forward to convening a group later this year to discuss extreme weather conditions and their impacts on cattle production and see what more we can do to be a resource. In thanking Gov. Pillen, Nebraska Cattlemen President Steve Hanson said, “Rain or shine, beef cattle producers are out in the elements to ensure their animals are receiving the highest quality care possible.” There’s that toughness. That resiliency. It is Nebraska cattle producers 365 days a year. NC EVP PERSPECTIVE • CONTINUED FROM PAGE 6 tive Federal Interest Rates.” This shows interest rates from their highs in the 1980s to now. None of this is to say the increase in interest rates is insignificant. Higher rates cost producers more than $50 per head on an annual basis on feeder inventories. Interest rates, like so many other factors impacting operations, ebb and flow with economic cycles. Those of us fortunate enough to have made a career in agriculture understand the ups and downs inherent to the industry and strive to make decisions today with an eye on future needs and goals. At FCSAmerica, we leverage the good times to be here for agriculture during the tough times, when producers most need a dependable lender. Each of the businesses in the Allied Industries Council advocate and work for your success. The beef industry is stronger when we are all pulling in the same direction. These are exciting times, and I am honored to be serving the industry as a member of the Nebraska Cattlemen Board of Directors. NC LEADER'S LETTER • CONTINUED FROM PAGE 8  Ad Index 44 Farms......................................................55 Ag Sale Day .................................................47 Ainsworth Motors Inc. .............................47 Amber Coleman/NC Sales.......................53 American Angus Association..................45 American Foods Group.............................39 Animal Health International..................23 Arrowquip ..................................................... 7 Bejot Feedlot ..............................................47 Bieber Red Angus Ranch..........................35 Bill's Volume Sales & Service ..................23 Burke Show Cattle ................................... 48 Cappel Sales Inc.........................................46 Cargill...........................................................56 CD Feedlots Inc. .........................................47 Chr.
