As the market demands change, they have learned to adapt. The rain that blessed some parts of the state skipped over Verdigre. The Nielsens were still able to put up a good hay crop, but corn in the area suffered. The lack of rain combined with humid mornings meant it took a little extra time for the hay to dry. In spite of the temperamental weather, their stack of large and small squares are ready to be marketed and sold, and they know that the hay will really start to move as calves are weaned and people shift their focus to winter feed.
