How you do one thing is how you do everything. That’s a common phrase that sums up 2024 Arturo Armendariz Distinguished Service Award recipient Greg Wolfe pretty well. A 52-year employee of Timmerman & Sons of Springfield, Wolfe started his career with the company in June 1972. Soon after, he relocated across the state to Indianola when a new feedyard was built; he was promoted to office manager in 1974. In 2012, he moved into his current role in commodities purchasing. “My wife’s college roommate was a cousin of the Timmermans,” Wolfe says. “I spent a summer in 1971 cutting corn silage for her dad, William Meister. I guess he was impressed with my work ethic. So, James Timmerman called me in for the interview as the first ʻnon-family’ person to be brought into the office. I never expected as a kid just out of college that I was finding the job that would last me a lifetime.” The Wolfes didn’t stay “non-family” for long.
